The PSOE and IU-Greens groups adhere to the allegations to the extension of the tram to El Carmen (26/12/2014)

Spokesmen for the Socialist municipal groups and IU-Greens, Pedro Lopez and Esther Herguedas, presented this week at the municipal registry two letters of accession to the claims made by the Citizens Platform for Mobility and Public Transportation in which flatly rejected the Popular Party intends to extend the tram line 1 from the Circular to the station del Carmen.

Thus, both groups assume in full all the reasons that lead to this platform to reject this new infrastructure that have not hesitated to describe "useless luxury" because instead of solving the problems of public transport, will contribute to worse.

Lopez and Herguedas recalled that this infrastructure as well as having a cost for construction between 47-58000000 euros, will involve a new mortgage to the municipality having to pay the company operating the tram five million more annually.

This new spending, with the aim of preventing bus lines pass through the city districts when they start the tram, forcing travelers to make a transfer and pay two bills, bring further cuts in bus lines that affect return back to the districts.

Moreover, both representatives have not hesitated to describe as "nonsense" the claim to approve this project when the Popular Party only has a few months of term and will produce political change in municipal government.

Therefore, considers the transport policies of Murcia and its metropolitan area, must be addressed from planning, rational use of public resources, citizen participation, respect for the principle of equality, sustainable development and cooperation between administrations , which so far is not doing the Department of Traffic.
