Education closes the year with a positive balance, new activities and works in 45 schools (17/12/2014)

The Department of Education closed the year with a positive balance that has been presented to the plenary of the municipal school board, which met yesterday.

The Councillor for Education, Maria Dolores Sánchez, stressed that in the last quarter the City has invested more than 150,000 euros in works carried out in 22 schools to repair damage caused by the rains.

These works are in addition to major repairs carried out during the summer months in 23 schools in the municipality, with a budget of over 708,000 euros.

More than 2,200 children will participate in Christmas in the free activities offered by the City Council, it is four film projections morning and activities in the Children's Traffic Park.

In addition the Council facilitates the use of 10 public schools in which 20 schools Christmas, organized by Association of Parents, involving 450 schools will be held.

In plenary School Board granting subsidies to 3 Federations of Associations of Parents and 91 Associations of Parents of schools in the municipality, for a total amount of 30,000 euros for cultural, sports, leisure explained and leisure, to promote reading, expansion of school libraries and book bank building.

Education offers 78 different activities for students in kindergarten, primary and secondary education in the municipality aware of their environment and the cultural, artistic, historic, natural, scientific and traditional heritage, during the course 2014/2015.

Last year participated in the activities 63,420 students between 3 and 18 years (91% of total).

During the summer holidays, the City organized summer camps in which 300 students from 3rd to 6th grade participated during the month of July in El Valle, Nerpio and Mar Menor.

Also, around 6,000 children participated in the 95 summer schools held during June and July in space donated by education in 66 public schools in the municipality.

The Council is chaired by the Councillor for Education, María Dolores Sánchez, and consists of representatives of teachers in public and private education, through unions;

representatives of Associations of Parents of Students;

Representatives of directors of public and private education, a representative of Educational Administration and a staff representative Services Administration.
