The University of Murcia gives a boost to the Campus Health Sciences (04/12/2014)

The University of Murcia last which is its flagship infrastructure project, the Campus of Health Sciences, located in the hamlet of El Palmar, where the educational institution has built the Center for Experimental Biomedicine (CEIB), building spaces departmental and building Biosanitary Research Laboratories (LAIB), through a combination of funds from the European Union subsidies in the Autonomous Community and equity.

The implementation of LAIB is a landmark of great importance for society Murcia, since it is designed for researchers of various kinds, specializing in transplantation, cardiology, neurology or oncology, can interact in a common space to share knowledge and experiences to be to provide solutions to pathologies treated in the adjoining hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, resulting basic research from the University for the benefit of all citizens of the region.

For two months, some of the research groups of the biomedical field have begun to use their facilities.

After the occupation of the building is completed, work on the LAIB more than 500 researchers from around fifty groups, distributed in 144 laboratories equipped with the latest technology.

Subsequently, university departments of medicine and nursing faculties located on the campus of Espinardo, for mid-2015 will move, begin work on the last key infrastructure Campus Health Sciences, the building of classrooms and laboratories teachers.

The latter will enable the degrees of Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy are taught by the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital, which will improve the quality of training of future health professionals and the connection between teaching and care quality.

This week Vice Rector of Research, Juan Antonio García, and Infrastructure and Sustainability, José María Abellán, visited the facilities accompanied by the Director General of Universities, Luis Javier Lozano, and the director of the Biomedical Research Institute Murciano, Pascual Parrilla.
