Suárez Japan: "Every Flemish artist is unique and unrepeatable" (02/12/2014)

Exhibitions, workshops and various side events have flooded the campus environment flamenco Jeronimos

The V University International Research Conference on Flamenco, organized by the International Foundation Flamencology UCAM Cante de las Minas, has started its activity in the Campus Jeronimos, linking the cultural and artistic world of flamenco with the academic world university.

The inaugural conference 'Some ideas of relations between flamenco and power' has been borne by Juan Manuel Suárez Japan, former Minister of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía, Flemish writer and researcher.

In his speech, Suarez Japan has made a peculiar definition of what it believes is the flamenco: "Flamenco is the single voice of one man and so each Flemish artist is unique and unrepeatable."

On the specific subject of his lecture, he commented that "flamenco has been involved mainly with the private economic power and recently, since the late twentieth century, with the government. With the advent of autonomy, entered money public in the world of flamenco as it had never happened. But now the story of the relationship between flamenco and public power will write a new page. Previously, the opening of the congress was chaired by Marta Lopez-Briones, director of the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts of the Region of Murcia;

Carlos Javier Martínez, acting mayor of La Union;

Pato and Antonio Sánchez, dean of the Faculty of Sport of the UCAM.

Lopez-Briones has commented on the importance of continue investing in cultural events: "Once again in the Region of Murcia have a very important appointment related to flamenco We became again in international capital of flamenco with this Congress interesting thing is.. For its part, the acting mayor of La Union has reported that "Congress is a very diverse, very attractive and all flamenco lover will enjoy. This congress is born from the union of two señeras marks the region such as the Cante de las Minas Foundation and the Catholic University of Murcia ".

Antonio Sánchez Pato has stressed the importance of this conference and all parallel activities that are prepared: "For the UCAM this congress has the word 'culture' in case that we will see at conferences, workshops and research that has been made ".

In the second lecture of the day 'Flamenco dancing, jubilant celebration of the tragic cry' José Luis Navarro has made a historic tour to explain the transformation of flamenco in a cultural manifestation.

Also, the journey has been full of parallel activities such as the photo exhibition 'Flamenco Pinch' Jesus Morcillo, the performance of the Dance Company UCAM and the beginning of flamenco percussion workshop with Miguel Angel Orengo and Antonio Fernández 'Wito' .

Morning: Conference illustrated on flamenco and talk conversation with Estrella Morente

The conference continues tomorrow with their activity.

During the morning session, conferences and seminars will be held in the temple at 12:45 highlighting the illustrated lecture 'The song of mine: a didactic approach to their musical styles' in which José Francisco Ortega will be accompanied by Jeromo Segura Minera lamp at 53 Festival of La Union, singing;

and Rosendo Fernández, official guitarist of the Festival of La Union, on guitar.

A workshop will be held noon wine pairing and flamenco songs, with the writer José María Brown, who will be joined by Antonio Peña, singing, and José Ignacio Franco, on guitar.

In the afternoon, in the TV studio of the Faculty of Communication, the singer Estrella Morente, director of the International Foundation Flamencology UCAM Cante de las Minas, will offer a talk with José María Velázquez Gaztelu, Flemish writer and journalist.
