Monsignor Paglia: "The family is a unique institution to create a solid partnership" (01/12/2014)

The president of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia, delivered this morning at the UCAM the conference 'The Family in the center of human development' in which he toured this institution in today's society.

In the historical context in which we live is not supporting the family by institutions and also is betting on the "individualism that destroys every relationship" the prelate said in his speech.

Monsignor Paglia, was accompanied by the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, -Consultant of the Pontifical Council for the Family-, who said that "at the University, a Catholic who is defending the family as God instituted".

Responsible for Family Affairs at the Vatican, Bishop Paglia said that "development, as we know, has a name, family" and he added that "this is a unique institution to help build a strong society, there another like family to unite men. "

The president of the Pontifical Council for the Family also wanted to emphasize the fundamental role of Catholic universities in "creating a culture favorable to the family" and he added that "the Pope asks us all to participate in the way of defending life ".

Also, the prelate made a strong defense of marriage understood as the union of a man and a woman "forever" versus "contemporary culture in which it is intended to introduce the concept that marriage is not indissoluble."

The speaker wanted to point at the fact that some who consider themselves Catholics say that everyone must save his own soul, without doing community, "this is not Christianity, is individualism";

and continued, "we can not pursue happiness alone, we were created to be together".
