IU-Greens do not believe that privatization of tax administration more efficient and effective (14/08/2014)

Councilman IU-Greens in the city of Murcia, José Ignacio Tornel, said today in relation to the maintenance of tax management outsourcing, which follows "not believing" that privatization is more efficient and effective than public service .

Tornel has referred in his remarks to the passage today in special session of the Governing Board of the specification open public competition to hire the services of collection of municipal taxes and other revenues of the City.

To Tornel, what has happened is that "they have been eliminating public resources" to perform this service, so that is left "empty", which, in his view, served as an "excuse" to PP to privatize years, in a context in which there was no crisis.

Thus, the popular councilor who privatized the service at the time, Joaquín Moya-Angeler, "decided for himself and for himself to work less, ie, with less responsibility, but still charge the same as before."

The IU-Greens mayor has made it clear that their formation does not question the work of workers Tribugest because that "is not the problem", but believes that those tasks could carry them public employees "providing human and technical resources."

He criticized that the service takes years without municipal resources, so it would be "very difficult" to catch up and make it public after all this time you've been in the "empty".

Furthermore, Tornel has described as "suspicious" that such a "fundamental" issue which costs 31 million euros to city coffers, is addressed at a meeting at which the PP missed five councilmen and held in the month of August.

He also castigated the government team that does not provide its municipal group specifications yesterday approved and have to wait until September to consult when it is normal that the information reaches the groups with 8 or 10 days of delay.

In this regard, it has been argued that there is "some reason" to access the specification be postponed.

"Eagerness to privatize"

Tornel has said that because of the "desire to privatize" the PP Murcia have to pay now, in a context marked by the crisis and unemployment, "double" for the services of a company that should have been public forever.

In his view, the money the council spent on an outside company for the work of tax administration "could be used more effectively allocating resources for public management."

He also pointed out that you have not yet received the information about the reports that ensured the efficiency of the current company and the need to maintain, something that Councillor of Finance undertook in the last Special Procurement Commission.
