The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, presented today by the likes of the Immaculate Conception parish priest of the church of Our Lady of Carmen, José Carrasco Pellicer, after being operated for 12 months in the Restoration Center in the Region of Murcia.
This is an image of polychrome wood and quilted 145 centimeters tall and restoration "has resulted in the recovery of a great work, perfect work processed stuff of Francisco Salzillo example," the counselor Pedro Alberto Cruz, who stressed the work as "one of the leading sculptor of Murcia."
The image was put on the Restoration Center to a scientific study that included X-rays, endoscopy, chemical analysis and stratigraphic and ultraviolet fluorescence, among others.
The size had numerous repaints, loose strata, ungluing, cracks and lack of support among other pathologies.
The intervention, which has received an investment of 35,000 euros, consisted of a thorough physical and chemical cleaning done on the stuff of the work, and the sealing of a large crack that halved the image caused by the low strength old adhesive glues used in the eighteenth century.
Finally we proceeded to differential chromatic reintegration, made with regatino technique, which enabled the recovery of areas completely missing in the silver cloud, tunic and mantle, as well as hands and face
