The Regional Committee for UNICEF thanks the Rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Gómez Cobacho, his long association with this organization, in defending the rights of the child, and gives him recognition.

The Board of UNICEF, Regional Committee of Murcia, delivered on Monday February 24 at the rectory, a mention of thanks to the Rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Gómez Cobacho for requesting continued to defend the Rights of Children, and join the UNICEF Mission as guarantor of the rights of children worldwide.

According to the international agency, throughout its mandate, the Rector Cobacho has shown a special sensitivity to issues related to child welfare and fulfillment of their rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

But his collaboration with UNICEF Committee Murcia goes back even before his rectory stage: specifically its stage Dean of the Faculty of Law from which supported the work of this charity organization for Children.

During the last twelve years have been launched at the University of Murcia numerous initiatives in collaboration with UNICEF-Murcia: Days Volunteer Training, Workshops, Seminars, Actions of University Mobilization, Diffusion of Emergencies and Humanitarian Aid and Volunteering for Children, among many others.

In addition to maintaining a partnership with UNICEF-Murcia, UMU is part of the University Network Needs and Rights of Children and Adolescents, sponsored by UNICEF Committee and the Spanish Institute of Rights of Children and Adolescents (IUNDIA ) and as part ten Spanish universities.
