The Mayor welcomes new Ambassador of Ecuador (11/02/2014)

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and the Ambassador of Ecuador in Spain, Miguel Camino Calahorrano have a meeting held this morning at City Hall in which they have dealt with various issues related to the group of citizens from the Latin American country residents in Murcia and the possibility of developing projects of interest to Murcia and Ecuador, especially in the cultural and educational fields.

According to the current population census, the largest group of people from non-EU nations comes from Morocco and Ecuador 14,000 people-6800 people.

The meeting, held at City Hall, has served to reiterate the desire to strengthen cooperative relations between the two.

Ambassador has delivered to the Mayor of a typical Panama hat, while House has given him a copy of the book "Murcia, sensual and baroque", edited by the City.

Calahorrano Miguel, who presented his credentials to King Juan Carlos just a month ago, is replacing Buenaño Aminta, who was in charge of the diplomatic delegation since January 2010.

With extensive experience in works devoted to energy, for two years was Minister of Electricity and Renewable Ecuador (2009 - 2011) Energy and subsequently was appointed as Ambassador of Ecuador to the Netherlands, where he launched a broad program of bilateral relations Ecuador Holland-on mass cycling, processing of solid waste to energy, water management and flood control, among other issues.
