The City of Murcia, in collaboration with the UCAM, MOBISEC Launches European project that aims to improve the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.

With the presence of prominent sportsmen Murcia Alejandro Valverde, Fran Pérez and José Joaquín Rojas, councilors Traffic, Javier Iniesta and Sports, Miguel Cascales, have released this project in collaboration with volunteers, will be critical for the 300 part time - to improve the safety of cyclists.

Murcia is responsible for the management of this project during the 36-month planning agendas, coordinating work plans, monitoring the project and conducting monitoring reports.

In addition, conduct technical studies on the need for using Geolocators in the rational design of bike lanes and bicycle intermodality with other means of transport.

For this, volunteers will: cyclists performing regular journeys to work, school, University cycling, within the municipality of Murcia, and who have a smartphone with GPS.

The UCAM has been responsible for technology development, consisting of a free application for smartphones (Android, iPhone, iPad and BlackBerry) and a web through which volunteers can access their routes as well as interesting personal statistics and rankings, participants will also get related road safety and sports awards.

MOBISEC Murcia, has the support of the major-Murcia cycling associations and Bicimur-Bike and Cycling Federation of Murcia, the Local Youth Council of Murcia and the Local Bike Shops Township.

MOBISEC purport to be an experience of social partnership between the Public Administration, the University and the company, in the field of ICTs applied to traffic management and rationalization of municipal investments.

MOBISEC is 50% financed by the Directorate General of Transport of the European Commission, which has been very interested in technologies for traffic management and urban mobility.

MOBISEC Murcia The project is part of the 2012-2014 MOBISEC project, led by Murcia and involving Varna (Bulgaria) and Oldham (UK).
