The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, under the 'Plan against theft on farms and livestock', has carried out an inspection at a weekly market in the capital where have seized 1,300 kilos of fruits and vegetables, allegedly illegal proceeds.

The action was initiated to detect and prosecute the distribution of farm products that could have been stolen, so prevention specialist civil guards public safety inspectors coordinated with the Department of Markets, Consumption and Decentralization of Murcia to perform inspections.

In one of these inspections, developed at the weekly market in the village of Murcia Sangonera la Verde, agents found that four of the street stalls inspected lacked documentation proving the legal origin of the products offered to the consumer, so four acts of denunciation rose very serious to the ordinance regulating street vending in the municipality of Murcia, under the concept of trade goods without justification infringement of its origin, some administrative offenses that are punishable by a fine 1,500 euros to 3,000 euros and revocation of municipal authorization to practice of street vending.

The products allegedly illegal proceeds were apples, grapefruit, grapes, oranges and tangerines, artichokes and onions throwing a total weight of 1,300 kilos, which were recalled, seized and deposited in units of the City of Murcia to check its provenance.

After not prove their legal origin and once its proven suitability for consumption, 1,300 kilos of fruit and vegetables have been donated to charity.
