The Community finances ten new sections of roads in the North Coast and South in the city of Murcia (20/12/2013)

The regional government allocated 66.5 million euros to improve road communications in Murcia, 25 of which have already been transferred to the municipality

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, Antonio Sevilla, and the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, today signed an addendum to the agreement for the construction of ten new sections of roads North and South Coast, which will significantly improve mobility in urban areas, traffic congestion on existing roads and facilitate communications between the districts.

Antonio Sevilla said the agreement "allows to continue the backbone of the city of Murcia, as these coastal link to the existing North and South axis will significantly improve road communication."

The Community provides a total of 66.5 million euros, of which 25 have already been transferred, and the remaining are those provided said addendum and will be funded in the next seven annual installments from 2013 to 2019.

"So coverage to the works already executed, as they are currently under adjudication remains," said the director.

According Sevilla said, "the total length supported by the region is 22 kilometers, of which 14 are already implemented eight correspond to new contracts."

Within 14 months

The actions included in the addendum signed today affecting 10 sections totaling 8118 meters in length and the expected execution time reaches 14 months in most cases.

The forecast projects could be tried in February and start work in the spring.

Specifically, seven sections of the North Coast, with a total length of 6,019 meters and a budget of 18 million euros will be built, while there are three missing sections in the South Coast, with a cost of 7.6 million euros and a length of 2,099 meters.

At present is completed and in service of the variant Sangonera Green and several sections of the North and South Coast, with a total length of 14 kilometers.

Moreover, already tendered seven sections of the North Coast and four in the South.

Better communications

The Coastal North and South are high capacity roads with landscaped median and bike lanes, which are designed to absorb 80,000 vehicles a day.

The projects of these roads have the following characteristics:

- Structuring Vials: central trunk of three lanes in each direction.

In the sections of the splitting of the A-4 (Section II-CN-12) and the connection between Nora and the North Coast in Guadalupe (Sections II-CN-3 and CN-II-4), the connection is available two lanes in each direction, and the connecting sections between El Palmar and San Ginés (Section II-CS-1-3) and the stretch of road replacement RM B-3 (included in Section II-CN- 4), have one lane in each direction.

- Accessibility: meets the parameters both pedestrian fords, as the width of sidewalks, horizontal and vertical signs, and traffic lights.

- Environment: circular roundabouts LED lighting an increase in energy efficiency, in addition to an increase in road safety.

Bike lane is included in all sections.

- Road safety: w-beam barrier protection for vehicles and motorists in the necessary sections and wooden fences to protect pedestrians and cyclists.

- Access: all existing roads are incorporated into new paths, either directly or by way of service, to leave no isolated area.

Intersections have remained raised in the General Urban Plan (Plan) to meet present and future.

- Gardening: artificial grass, mulberry and native species at roundabouts.

Road running

The agreement improved road communications between the region and the City has already allowed the opening of the Green Sangonera variant in operation since April 2009 - with a total length of 3.9 kilometers, the route runs from your link with MU-30 freeway to the RM-603 road at the exit of the village.

That same year also opened for service on first section of the North Coast, which cross links the Avenida Juan de Borbón with Juan Carlos I (at the height of the substation Espinardo) along a length of 1.55 kilometers .

This road will have a total length of 12.06 km and will link with Javalí head of Torres Viejo, on the border with Sewell.

And since January 2010, is in the service section of the South Coast with a total length of 11.3 miles, running from La Alberca Auditorium and Santa Catalina Highway.

Two years later, the road opened to traffic between this point and Algezares.

The first stretch of the North Coast, which uses cross Avenida Juan de Borbón with Juan Carlos I (at the height of the substation Espinardo), along a length of 1.55 kilometers, has been open to traffic since 2009 .
