The PSOE, IU-Greens and municipal groups UPyD filing a joint initiative claiming that the House urge the Consistory Autonomous Community to amend budgets for 2014 and further tightening measures paralyze the UMU and to express through an institutional statement support for the requests made by the presidents of public universities in the Region
The three opposition groups in the city of Murcia, PSOE, IU-Green and Union Progreso y Democracia, filing a joint initiative with the intention that the House urge the Consistory Autonomous Community to amend budgets for 2014 and to freeze new cuts to the University of Murcia (UMU).
Also, the political parties demand that the Consistory give institutional support to requests made by letter to the rectors of the UMU, Cobacho Antonio, and Jose Antonio Franco, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, all parliamentary groups in the Regional Assembly .
In the letter, both governing ask that the budget for 2014 for public universities in the Region of Murcia is not reduced, and that the same amounts as in 2013, in addition to assigning a separate item to offset the amounts being disclosed not assumes the Ministry of Education regarding scholarships.
As explained from the opposition in the city of Murcia, "these claims are more than fair and balanced", signing all of them all the requests.
"The University of Murcia, as a public university, plays a fundamental role in the socioeconomic development of the region, particularly in the town of Murcia", and cuts arising from the regional government "threaten the viability of both the UMU as UPCT with more restrictive access and economic conditions and a decline in the quality of teaching. "
