The Council offers grants to NGOs working in the municipality cooperation projects (25/09/2013)

The Municipal Council for Cooperation and Solidarity, which met this morning, has approved the project to award grants to NGOs working town in Latin America and the Caribbean, North Africa or West Africa, and contribute to sustainable human development populations by improving the conditions of life of its inhabitants and meeting their basic needs.

Priority will be given those cooperation projects whose objectives contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, especially those related to the areas of health, education, human rights: social services and social promotion, production, insfraestructuras and environment, governance, empowerment of women and the fight against hunger.

The amount of subsidies is 30,000 euros.

Interested NGOs will have a deadline for the submission of applications for fifteen calendar days from the day following the publication of these regulatory standards in the Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia.

Furthermore, the Cooperation Council has introduced the balance of the activities Educating Developing a program developed with NGOs so that each month of the year are organized activities, exhibitions, conferences, documentaries, educational lectures and awareness, etc., on the theme days indicated and the Millennium Development Goals.

The activities in the first six months of 2013 6,500 people have participated.

The schedule is as follows:

-January.

Month dedicated to peace, I call the Drawing and Writing Contest School, involving 400 students at CEIP Jesus and Mary, CEIP Our Lady of Cortes and Jose Rubio Gomaríz CEIP.

-February.

Dedicated to peace, non-violence and education, with the celebration in the garden of the embankment of a day of exhibition with the Armed Forces, and the participation of 1,035 children.

In addition, the FADE ONG'D gave a talk at IES Miguel Espinosa.

-March.

Dedicated to water.

About 3,200 people registered for the race solidarity Drops Niger, organized by UNICEF and attended schools Angel Zapata, Cristo del Valle, Federico de Arce, Sacred Heart (Zeneta), Doe Penafiel, The Grove, James the Greater, Mariano Baquero Goyal, Antonio Diaz, Fajado Saavedra, The Basilica, Francisco Cobacho, Juan Carlos I and John XXIII (Monteagudo).

Also organized the race Running With you, in the garden of the Malecon, on the occasion of the World Day of People with Down Syndrome.

-April.

Murcia Fire II celebrated their charity race to benefit the Foundation Vicente Ferrer.

For its part, the Latin Art ONG'D launched its campaign to distribute school aid bonds 16 100 euros for educational material for low-income families.

The EWB ONG'D explained his work and his project in Guatemala in school Nebrija.

The Municipal Council for Cooperation and Solidarity is chaired by Councilwoman Equality Policy and Development Cooperation, Alicia Waterman, and consists of the members of local political groups PP, PSOE, IU and UPyD, in addition to the Councillor for Education Maria Dolores Sanchez Alarcon District Councilman Golf Murcia, Manuel Duran, Cristina Rubio, Diego Calderón, María José Nicolás, Eduardo Osuna, Antonio Alcaraz and NGOs Fade, Action Fire, Blue in Action Foundation CEPAIM, IDC and Karit Solidarity for Peace.
