The Socialist councilor Susana Hernandez defend in plenary on Thursday a motion asking the City Council to urge the regional executive not to apply in the region the hospital drug copayment imposed by the Government of Rajoy.
The Ministry of Health has issued a resolution that from next October 1, cancer patients, hepatitis C, with brain tumors, multiple sclerosis and other serious ailments will have to pay 10% of the medicines required for treatment, with a maximum of 4.2 euros per pack.
"Never in our worst nightmare could imagine that public health would suffer such an attack by the government of Rajoy" laments Hernandez, who calls this new copayment as "unacceptable and illegal, a new attack on the welfare state, further crushing weaker sections of the population. "
The Socialist Party rejects this new twist to patients and also require the Consistory in Parliament to urge the Government of Spain to urgently cancel and rescind this new health copayment.
