The PP has a motion in Parliament to support the Memorandum on the Tajo-Segura (23/09/2013)

The Group presents Muncipal People's Party in the House, to be held on Thursday, a motion in support of the Memorandum on the Tajo-Segura, to have the force of law.

Nuria Fuentes Councilwoman regretted that the other political groups have not wanted to join this motion, to be a joint proposal.

On September 11 the Board of Governors of the City Council approved the submission of claims, in the same terms as those made by the Central Union of Irrigation of the Tajo-Segura, at the proposal of the Hydrological Plan of the Tagus, with the aim of ensuring a new standard that guarantees the rights of users and the water supply to the region.

These allegations include the need for the regulation of the transfer is secured by a regulation having the force of law, as required by the Water Act.

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, indicated that urges a law guaranteeing sustainability and permanence of the Tajo-Segura and therefore agreed to request in Parliament that all political groups to join this initiative passes regularly as the current bill proposal on the transfer.

Fuentes has stressed that the proposal has been all political groups in the city of Murcia, who have not wanted to support.

The motion that the House has presented the following resolutions:

Urge the Ministry of Agriculture to submit to the Parliament a bill to collect in full the text prepared by the working committee designated by the signatories of the Memorandum (Ministry of Agriculture, Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, and Valencia, and Central Union of Irrigation)

Reaffirm support the City of Murcia to the allegations made by the Central Union of Irrigation Hydrological Plan of the Spanish part of Tagus river basin, confirming what was approved by the Governing Board of the City Council as of September 11, 2013.

Refer to the resolution adopted at the national parliamentary groups, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Presidents of the Autonomous Communities of the Region of Murcia and Valencia, and the Central Union of Irrigation.
