The municipal group of IU-Greens in the city of Murcia has submitted a motion to the next plenary session by requesting the establishment of a committee on which information is provided "complete and current" state of the infrastructure included in the Infrastructure Plan Hydraulic North Zone.
The spokesman for the group, Esther Herguedas, recalled that the said plan was approved in 2004 in order to solve the problems of water supply, sanitation and storm water drainage that required urban development planned for the north in the General Plan Urbana.
Herguedas explained that this plan envisaged the construction of a stormwater interceptor, I had to take the state, a storm tank whose funding was provided by land owners 30 partial plans, and four major collectors, in addition to increased capacity of the treatment plant in Murcia.
"All these works were consistent with expectations for future urban ultimately not been met and most are without running water infrastructure or are partially carried out, and some sections are not connected, which is still using the traditional network , which is insufficient. "
According Herguedas, the result of this situation is that "every time it rains a little strong, residents in the north ending up paying the consequences of speculation and poor urban planning, suffering floods affecting their safety, their homes and their business. "
The mayor believes that it is necessary to review the Plan and therefore proposes the creation of a commission, as well as detailing the real state of infrastructure, report on the economic commitments to implement them and consider revision of these plans by providing solutions in the short-medium term.
