Urology Experts explain that prostate problems are generalized with age affecting more than half of men 50 years.

Murcia Chiron Hospital now offers a talk on Urology and Da Vinci Robot in Cajamurcia Cultural Hall.

"40% of men in excess of 40 have some degree of erectile dysfunction," as they have affirmed the Chief of Urology Hospital Torrevieja Chiron and Chiron Centre for Assisted Reproduction Dexeus Murcia, Dr. Sven Petry, and Associate Physician Chiron Torrevieja Hospital and robotic urology specialist, Dr. Javier Azparren, who taught the talk 'Prostate and Sexual Health: Da Vinci Robot' today, at 20:00 pm in the Cultural Hall Cajamurcia on the occasion of World Health Day prostate.

Urologists have explained that "erectile dysfunction can be caused most often by a combination of physical and psychological factors."

The medical term for an erection problem is called erectile dysfunction, and it is because not enough blood to the penis or that it does not stay in the penis long enough to produce erection.

According to experts, it is important to a proper medical evaluation because "erectile dysfunction may be motivated by the side effects of medications or underlying physical illness, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, high blood pressure, etc.."

However, Drs Petry and Azparren, erectile dysfunction may also be related to psychological issues, with approximately over 50% of cases are due to causes such as stress and emotional problems, or by post-operative effects of prostate surgery.

On this issue, doctors stress that, "if the cause is psychological, it can mean that when sex presents a lack of confidence and fear of failure, resulting in an unsatisfying relationship."

With regard to prostate cancer, urologists remember that "after 40 years, the man may have prostate problems, at age 50 more than half may have symptoms, and over 80 years affecting 90% of men ".

The cause of these problems is often the prostate adenoma, also known as benign prostatic hypertrophy or benign tumor: "This tumor causes organ enlargement and difficulty urinating, and although its appearance is not related to sexual frequency that a man has taken over your life, it is possible that the uncomfortable feeling such as pain or difficulty urinating, to discourage any sexual intent, "says Dr. Petry.

Basically, after 50 years the patient may begin to have symptoms related to benign prostate enlargement.

You can tell by the need to go more often than usual to the bathroom, have more difficulty urinating or getting up at night to do so.

Problems are increasing as years to fulfill.

In that sense, doctors stress that "prostate cancer shows no sign unless do a blood test and we orient the PSA level."

From the point of view of prevention, both advise maintain good eating habits and treat the symptoms when they start to bother our quality of life, because, "in addition to benign enlargement and cancer, prostate infections are called prostatitis, which is produced by inflammation of the prostate. "

The doctors will also explain the advantages and benefits of the surgery to the patient through the robot robotic Da Vinci, compared to open or laparoscopic surgery.

In the words of the experts, "the postoperative period is less painful, less blood loss and less risk of infection."

In addition, Dr. Azparren says that "smaller scars and allows much faster recovery. Surgical treatment of prostate cancer with the Da Vinci significantly reduced the usual side effects in this surgery, such as urinary incontinence or impotence sexual ".

With respect to the treatment of erectile dysfunction, professionals state that "oral medications may be considered first-line treatment, but are not suitable for men taking nitrates or certain blood pressure medications such as alpha-blockers or doxazosin."

In these cases, the specialist will consider other treatment options for the disease.
