The Mayor promotes the creation of a social fund to cover the cost of water to needy families (22/04/2013)

Murcia was a pioneer in the creation of this fund, which in 2012 benefited almost five hundred families

The water consumption subsidy is part of the initiatives undertaken or coordinated by the City to help the most vulnerable, the amount exceeded 9.1 million euros in 2012

A special social fund created by the City and Aguas de Murcia will help needy families cope with the expenditure involved in the consumption of water.

The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, and the CEO of the company, José Albaladejo, today signed a cooperation agreement that will enable people meet in precarious economic, they can not cope with the amount of fertilizer consumption water.

The creation of this social fund will grant individual for payment of water and sewer and is worth € 200,000.

In 2012 conducted a similar initiative that turned Murcia in a pioneering city in Spain.

The result of this experience, was awarded 498 grants, amounting to 199,082 euros, corresponding to 2,628 receipts.

Recall that Murcia was also the first city in the country to introduce positive discrimination in rates, taking into account the Members of the family unit.

This time, it was decided to regulate the procedure in an agreement, the duration is annual and renewable.

Municipal social services are responsible for issuing the relevant reports to prove the status of the applicants who come to the fund.

The fund will serve invoices issued in 2012 and 2013 and the request for the access to that will be presented to the Customer Service of Emuasa.

More than 9.1 million in social assistance

The agreement signed today with Aguas de Murcia is part of a series of initiatives undertaken or coordinated by the City to work with people at risk of social vulnerability, the economic pillar rose last year to more than 9.1 million euros.
