Murcia hosts Sunday's Championship Run Road Spain (01/03/2013)

The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation and the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the city of Murcia and the Directorate General of Sports of the Autonomous Region, organized the Spain Championship Run Road, celebrated the Sunday March 3.

The circuit will be held in the Gran Vía, with a length of 1 km, approved by the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations).

The test will begin at 9.30 am.

Test is expected to draw more than a thousand people, including athletes, coaches, officials, delegates and guests.

The list of athletes registered in different categories over 300 people.

Councilman Sports, Miguel Cascales, stressed the importance of holding this event in Murcia and pointed out that the municipality commitment to sport and has hosted major sporting events.

The circuit of the Gran Via is the same one that took place in the final of the 2008 World Race Walking Challenge, organized by the IAAF.

That was the busiest international march few have been held so far.

The two great athletes favorite for the triumph of absolute proof of 20 kilometers, are Miguel Angel Lopez Nicolas Murcia (Llano de Brujas) and Benjamín Sánchez Bermejo (Cieza).

Both belong to the athletic club UCAM-Athleo.

Miguel Angel Lopez was ranked 5th in the 20 km walk at the London Olympics and at the end of the year was chosen by the RFEA as the best male athlete of 2012.

For his part, Benjamin Sanchez participated in the 50-km march in London, with his second performance in the Olympic Games, as he participated in Beijing.

In smaller categories are favorites to win the title on ciezano abaranera Manuel Bermudez and Amanda Cano.
