The author comes to film next week Murcia's hand IBAFF (27/02/2013)

The writer, actor and playwright Jean Claude Carrière and the magazine "Trafic" Honorary Award this year, while the Bill Viola video art teacher will be honored with the Award Barzakh.

The Romea Theatre becomes the reference point of the 4th edition of the International Film Festival IBAFF Murcia, to be held from 4 to 9 March.

Among the new features incorporated in this 4th edition include the First International Film School and the First Meeting of Filmmakers, along with three new categories: Panorama Murcia, IBAFF IBAFF Retrieves and Selection.

The International Film Festival of Murcia IBAFF (Ibn Arabi Film Festival), which takes place from 4 to 9 March, faces its fourth edition loaded with new features.

One will be the change of venue.

Thus, the Romea Theatre becomes landmark, hosting IBAFF office, among other activities, while the Gates Center Castilla, promoter of the festival, gives up its role, but still expect some of the sections of festival.

Also the Teatro Circo, Francisco Rabal Regional Film Archive, the Archaeological Museum and the Hall of CAM are set to new offices in the city center.

Other embodiments of the 4th edition of the Festival, created by the city of Murcia, will be holding the First International Film School and the First Meeting of Filmmakers, along with three new categories: Panorama Murcia, IBAFF IBAFF Retrieves and Selection.

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, has offered this morning a press conference accompanied by Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, Councillor of Culture, Rafael Gomez and festival director, Marta Lopez-Briones.

IBAFF The Honorary Award, the highest award that recognizes the career of filmmakers who embody the ideals of the festival (Travel and Creation), is granted ex aqeuo filmmaker, screenwriter, playwright and actor Jean-Claude Carrière, one of the leading exponents French surrealism, and great collaborator of Luis Buñuel, and the French magazine "Trafic" for his career.

Carrière was also writer of "The Tin Drum" (1979), "The Return of Martin Guerre" (1982), "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" (1988), "Valmont" (1989), "Cyrano de Bergerac" (1990), "The Horseman on the Roof" (1995), "Goya's Ghosts" (1996), among others.

He received the Order of Arts and Letters of the Spanish Government in July 2011.

The Festival also recognized with this award honorary trajectory of the French magazine "Trafic", founded 20 years ago by Serge Daney, one of the most influential and renowned art critics of his country, and who once represented a renovation in the sense of the writing exercise.

IBAFF Young Award, awarded by a jury consisting of students from secondary schools in the region to one of the short films (fiction or documentary), the Audience Award and Abbas Kiarostami Film Seminar, presented by the Iranian filmmaker, complete the IBAFF awards list of 2013.

In this edition, the festival's official selection, comprising a total of 33 titles selected from nearly 200 entrants from countries around the world, will be screened in full on Regional Film Archive, and will cover different genres: video art, animation, stop-motion, documentary, fiction, etc..

The works are divided into four categories: feature film and documentary and short fiction and documentary.

Two of the works submitted to the contest have been awarded a BAFTA award-short That was not me, of Esteban Crespo and A History for Modlin, Sergio Oksman-, three were nominated for the prize in its category - Voice over, Martin Rosete and The Wedding, Marina Seresesky-and paragraph of feature films, the Siminiani Leon Murcia, chose the award for Best Documentary at the Academy, with his first feature map, which has been awarded at the Festival Seville and Tarragona in REC.

In addition, 2013 will be screened IBAFF other sections not competitive titles.

Thus, as in the last edition was included Film School section, which this year is reinforced by the First International Film School, a forum for exchange of ideas and experiences among students from Europe, Asia and America, involving invited schools: the School of Cuba, the School of Cinema and Audiovisual de Catalunya (ESCAC), the School of Lodz (Poland), the Art School of Porto (Portugal) and the School of Geneva (Switzerland).

Commissioner of this international meeting is Tanya Valette, belonging to the first generation of graduates of the School of Film and Television in Cuba.

Also new to this 4th edition, the First Meeting of Filmmakers, will star figures of international prestige as Abbas Kiarostami, Victor Erice and Jaime Rosales, who moderated by professor and film critic Ángel Quintana, explain your passwords in conducting audiovisual inviting us to know, first hand, the process of creating a film on its own cinematic philosophy.

Will be Friday, March 8 at the Cultural Hall Caja Mediterráneo.

A selection of films by the festival itself, and the character of the mark, allowing the public to approach the film concerning this year, some of them unpublished in Spain or our city and have been critically acclaimed internationally or programmed and awards at other international festivals.

Within the Selection IBAFF-held for the first time can be works of filmmakers like Eloy Enciso, Natche Ahmad (both members of the jury), Juan Carlos Rulfo and Natalia Gil, Miguel Gomes, Jaime Rosales, Victor Erice and Abbas Kiarostami.

All films in this section also will be eligible for the Audience Award, awarded by the audience attending the screenings of each film.

From the new Panorama section arises Murcia open an exhibit and meeting space where the movie takes place in Murcia.

IBAFF articulates within order to project and promote the film current Murcia, in an open and multicultural plurality permeable.

This first edition is just a door that invites participation in upcoming issues of public and filmmakers.

The latest addition to the festival program, IBAFF Recovers, offer the audience the opportunity to discover unpublished documents on the cinematic memory and rediscover time through film hits, but also incite another fresh look on those tapes.

Will screen two films of Buñuel-the first and last of which he wrote Carrière, Honorary Award of this year, "Belle de Jour" and "That Obscure Object of Desire."

Also in this issue remains Section Off, which will include a selection of titles that have not entered into the main competition but have special importance for their worth thematic or stylistic.

20 films will be screened in theaters strictly commercial alternative and included short films by Kiarostami workshop students in the previous edition.

In order to improve knowledge management and communication with stakeholders, organizes the festival for the second year IBAFF course "Kiarostami: film / video art", which will give the Iranian filmmaker from 28 February to 9 March, at the Teatro Romea.

For the second year, hosts the International Symposium IBAFF Ibn Arabi of Murcia, to be held in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia on 8 and 9 March.

This international meeting on the figure of the Sufi mystic born in Murcia in the twelfth century, will be entitled at this time "Symbol and creative imagination" and will bring together international speakers and experts highlight global Ibn Arabi.

During the seminar will be granted the prestigious Prix Tarjuman Suad Hakim Lebanese researcher and Nobel Barzakh, the artistic and creative career inspired by the Sufi mystic thought, awarded the globally celebrated viodeoarte master Bill Viola, who has organized the exhibition "Three Women" at the Gates Center Castilla.
