Literary translation and exotic languages ​​in the Humanities Classroom (27/02/2013)

"The meaning and significant in literary translation: the case of an exotic language" is the title of the lecture to be given on Thursday, February 28, at 13 hours, Norio Shimizu.

The presentation will be provided by Cervera Vicente Salinas, Director of the Humanities Classroom

The event will be held in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Arts Campus de la Merced.

and is organized by the Humanities Classroom of Vice President for University Extension and eGovernment

Norio Shimizu is Professor of Waseda University, and professor emeritus at the University of Sofia, both of Tokyo.

It is a leading specialist in Spanish literature, which has analyzed and translated publications.

Highlights include works of Cervantes, Berceo, Nebrija, Garcilaso de la Vega, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, Antonio Machado, García Lorca, Jose Maria Alvarez and Borges.

He was elected in 1985 corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy, and so is the Catalan Association d'Art Critics, the Hispanic Association of Japan, the Association of History of the Spanish Language, Hispanicism Philosophical Association and the American Institute Tokyo, among others.

Among its highlights Japanese translations of the Cantigas of Alfonso X, Octavio Paz and Jorge Luis Borges.
