A new website allows citizens warning of incidents in public lighting (22/02/2013)

If in summer last year the Department of Urban and Infrastructure Quality launched the web site, to warn of the damage Murcia in public, now is the turn of street lighting.

This is already in www.alumbradopublicomurcia.es web page where you can provide all the information regarding this service.

The highlight of the site is a map of incidents in which any Murcia can give notice of damage to road lampposts for repair by the corresponding service.

So, you can add a picture, describe the incidence and include the street where it is located.

Also on the map you can see the exact location of the incidents detected and states: if unresolved, pending or in process of resolution.

The Department has also created a smartphone app (both iPhone and Android phones with OS) that lets you send a picture of localized incidents automatically by the system that will position using GPS coordinates, or to enter the address if the user does not is in the scene.

To install it you just have to search the AppStore or Android systems, the application 'Public Lighting Murcia'

This information will be sent to Public Lighting Murcia which will launch the necessary mechanisms for settlement.

The website also includes other sections which provides all information related to the service as a brief summary of the activity of public lighting service, a section of the projects planned for this service or a section with all the news about the lighting.

Also there is a citizen's mailbox where you can also send other suggestions.

With the implementation of this website, the Department of Urban Quality aims to get closer to the citizen, making him a participant in this public service.

It also facilitates collaboration so that they can constantly improve the quality of street lighting in the municipality.

Data on public lighting

The City Council, in order to improve the quality of this service and due to expansion experienced by the municipality, has greatly increased the number of lighting points installed in the town.

Thus, it has happened in the last 30 years of being installed 14,600 points of light to current existing 97,000 points, which means that nearly all of the municipality is covered by this service.

In the past 30 years, as evidence of successive application of new technologies, has gone from using mercury vapor lamps, which prevailed in 58% of the items installed in the early 80s, the use of lamps sodium vapor, much more energy efficient.

As a result, in 2011 almost 91% of the light points installed using these lamps with energy efficient than double the previous.

Thus, it was possible to optimize the power consumption, saving up to 80%, which has allowed us that despite the considerable increase in points of light, has reduced energy consumption to date current levels consumption in 2005.

Moreover, all new fixtures are installed FHS0 type that emit no light above the horizontal plane passing through them, thereby contributing to reduced light pollution of the city to the sky.
