The World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO recognized currently consists of 610 reserves in 117 countries, of which 43 are in Spain, although none in the region of Murcia and in the Mediterranean Levant.

Thus, the Biosphere Reserve of the Sierras and Murcia Golf will make a decisive contribution to the network level Spanish UNESCO world and particularly to the Mediterranean Basin.
