The family arguments and being a passenger in a car driven under the influence of alcohol, more frequent antisocial behavior in adolescents (13/02/2013)

Risk factors for health and the problem of bullying (bullying) in adolescents in the Region of Murcia is the subject of the doctoral thesis defended at the University of Murcia by Matthew Mendez Immaculate.

The social rate of antisocial behavior of adolescents -1230 analyzed students between 11 and 18 years of secondary school in the region, reaching about 56% of these, the most common being having a discussion in the family and be a passenger of a vehicle driven under the influence of alcohol.

These, along with participating in a fight, have rates above 20%, while the remaining detected-truant behavior, driving under the influence of alcohol, being stopped by law enforcement, be expelled from school and escape home a full day or more, recorded a frequency below 10%.

Nearly a third of the students in the sample, indicating the thesis, presented a regular consumption of legal and illegal drugs, the most consumed among the latter the cannabis, followed by cocaine.

For drug use and other risky assets, judging by the study of Immaculate Mendez is relevant maladjustment in the family, at school and in the group of friends involved predominantly among males and students having school failure for having repeated a grade and not follow the pace of learning for their age (the age that implies greater risk is between 14 and 15 years).

In regards to bullying, the profiles associated with the aggressor show bidirectional relationships with drug use and antisocial behavior, while school maladjustment.

Findings from the study indicate that among adolescents Murcia bullying level is similar to that recorded in other Spanish regions, as well as rates of drug use and social risk behaviors that are consistent with those of other teens the country.
