Murcia Firefighters are trained to intervene in the compressed natural gas buses (12/02/2013)

The Service Firefighting and Rescue Hall of Murcia (SEIS), in its annual training plan, has carried out a series of visits to the CNG station of upper and Transport depot Murcia .

The objective was to determine the elements of these new vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and the risks for operative intervention of the fire brigade, so that they dealt with the highest level of security.

These buses have some unique elements compared to traditional internal combustion buses petrol and diesel, as are the storage cylinders, fueling unit, valves and safety features (melt and excess flow valves).

The energy source (natural gas) is stored in cylinders at 200 bar pressure.

As for compressed natural gas filling station, located in the hamlet of upper, firefighters were able to see first hand what are the units that constitute techniques, namely natural gas rush, the regulating and metering station, compressors, buffer zone, suppliers, processing center and other security features in an emergency.

This training is intended to keep updated skills of firefighters, they must be prepared to act against a wide range of technological risks.

This training has been conducted in collaboration with Transport and Disfrimur Murcia.
