The members of the Women's Center of El Carmen become goldsmiths (11/02/2013)

The Women's Center of El Carmen is making a goldsmith's workshop for the members learn to make their own jewelry using traditional methods with multi-colored brass and alpaca.

The Councillor for Equality Policies and Development Cooperation, Alicia Barquero, this morning visited the workshop training that lasts for 25 hours.

Ten women participated in this initiative that Jesus taught master craftsman Joy Gomez and Carmen Garcia, Holloware Tabil.

The workshop is also being developed at the Center for Women in San Antolin.

The aim is to present the work and craftsmanship that people who do it and know the work environment behind a piece of craftsmanship, which are unique and exclusive jewelry made entirely by hand.

Boatman has indicated that this type of course is done in order to promote self-employment among women.

Since there are many objects that create handmade jewelry and decoration.

The students of the workshop in El Carmen performed a set consisting of necklace, bracelet and earrings, and another piece of his own design.

Women draw the piece, cut with the blade or scissors, and liman sanded, drilled the necessary holes, and on a lead with a chisel hammer give texture and volume.

Finally the polish, the grind and give it a bath lacquer.

The whole process is manual and craftsman and is supervised by teachers.
