Murcia City Council has given its approval to a project for the expansion of the Tourist Office, located in the Plaza Belluga.
The aim is to offer more space to visitors so they can receive information more comfortably, while there will be a larger store.
The Councillor for Sports, Youth and Tourism, Miguel Cascales, recalled the dramatic increase in visitors who are searching the offices Belluga Tourism and Santa Clara Street in recent months.
November was the seventh month in a row that there has been an increase in the number of visitors compared to last year, recovering the fall in the number of tourists who had been going for the past four years.
Specifically, in November has seen an increase of 16.57% of visitors compared to the same month in 2011.
Passing tourists offices 7471, while last year 6,409 people attended.
In November there has been a 19% growth in domestic visitors, 11.33% in regional visitors and 17.12% more foreign tourists than in the same month last year.
The expansion of the Office of Tourism is one of the projects under the Tourism Promotion Plan 'Murcia 365', in order to convert a reference Murcia resort 365 days a year, enhancing and strengthening the brand 'Murcia'.
The Tourist Office is open Monday through Saturday mornings and afternoons, and Sundays and holidays in morning.
Visitors receive information from the municipality, brochures and maps of the historic old town.
In addition, the City Council approved the administrative clauses and technical specifications for the procurement of service and tourist information bulletin, with an investment of 76,000 euros, from January 16, 2013 until January 16, 2014, renewable for another year.
