The IU-Green spokesman in the city of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, today criticized the government team "give away" 600,000 euros for the basketball team at the Catholic University San Antonio (UCAM) "in these times of crisis."
Has relied Herguedas the agreement approved by the Governing Board on the basketball team of the UCAM, besides obtaining this funding, "shall enjoy the patronage of the Municipality of Murcia and you can use for free the sports facilities, for which any individual pays a fee. "
"While this council cut the budget for sports halls and sports base, gives an elite team of a private company, the UCAM, 600,000 euros with a shameful consideration: 1400 adult tickets and guaranteed to have the presence of a team member in some local sporting events. "
The mayor pointed out that the municipality in 2005 signed another agreement with the UCAM that "consistently fails", which the City "gave" to the UCAM a total of 135,000 square meters of municipal land to expand its facilities.
In this agreement, in addition to economic considerations establish the UCAM promised to create scholarships for students in the municipality "never existed", and to allow municipal use of their facilities, "something that is not."
So Herguedas announced he would ask the reports of implementation of previous agreements signed with the Basketball Club Murcia and ask as a full explanation of the development agreement in 2005.
