The foundations and eaves, followed by bodyguards, are basketball players suffer more injuries, according to the conclusions of the doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia by Federico Sanchez Jover, who has obtained excellent cum laude.
The study indicates that lesions occur both in training and in matches, and that is the most common ankle sprain, followed by sprain-dislocation of the fingers of the hand and knee.
The dissertation also notes that 53 percent of players have been injured in the seasons analyzed in the same, for the years between 2006 and 2009.
To carry out this research, the author studied a sample of 217 players in the region of Murcia in the categories of child and cadet, both male and female.
As for the reasons that these athletes were engaged in playing basketball, most said it was "to improve the image and appearance."
The dissertation was directed by Professor Antonia Aurelia Gomez Conesa.
