The Conference of Deans of the Faculties of Philosophy of Spain has warned of economic cutbacks and recent legislative changes, since in his opinion, "are threatening the quality and even the continuity of teaching and research in philosophy."
Deans, who held a conference for discussion at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, reminiscent of the administration "philosophy that studies are one of the cornerstones of the Western cultural tradition, and today most advanced democratic societies tend book a specific place these studies in different educational levels. "
In his statement, "totally reject the drastic budget cuts that have been applying the central and regional government in the last three years", and Royal Decree-Law 14/2012 of rationalization of public spending in education, because they consider "a frontal attack against one of the pillars of our welfare state: the Spanish public system of education and research."
The Conference of Deans was the Spanish Network of Philosophy (REF), which also bring together the Institute of Philosophy of the CCHS-CSIC and various philosophical associations of university teachers and secondary schools, all of whom participated in the conference and signed the declaration .
