The Rector Loustau room building has welcomed today's Convalescence, March 27, the filing of the notice XIII Painting Prize of the Hall of Fine Arts, University of Murcia.
The ceremony was presided by Jose Antonio Cobacho, Rector of the University of Murcia, who was accompanied by Mercedes Batlle Farias, Vice Chancellor of University Extension and the UMU eGovernment, Rafael Gomez Carrasco, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Murcia, Martin Burruezo Perez, director of the Art Palace Almudí, Caballero and Francisco Cano, coordinator of the Visual Arts at the University of Murcia.
This XIII Classroom Painting Prize of Plastic Arts of the University of Murcia, worth 8000 euros, is organized by the educational institution and the city of Murcia, and is sponsored by the Foundation Vicente Fuentes, whose president Francisco Fuentes Huertas, has excused his attendance.
The Vice Chancellor Mercedes Farias has stressed the need for the institutions, through the sum of their efforts and generosity, work to keep the art disappears in times of crisis.
The chancellor concluded his speech with words of gratitude to Francisco Fuentes in which noted that "the crisis affecting all sectors of society, yet Francisco Fuentes, as the patron who is committed to promoting art ".
Rafael Gomez Carrasco, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Murcia stated that the works will be exhibited in October at the Palace Almudí, noting also that their quality "does not detract in respect of any exhibition held in that room."
The event concluded with the statements of Jose Antonio Cobacho, who recalled that transcends regional award, as in previous calls involving not only painters in Spain, but also other countries such as Cuba, Portugal, France, Italy or Sweden.
The deadline for submission of paintings will run from 1 to June 12.
