More than 1,500 students and teachers participate in the charity race I Clean Water for Niger (22/03/2012)

More than 1,500 students and teachers from schools in the municipality will join the initiative of UNICEF I benefit race 'Clean Water for Niger', with the support of the Department of Equality Policies and Development Cooperation, who runs Alicia Barquero, and collaboration of the School Sports section of the City of Murcia.

The race was held this morning at Bacons Bridge, with the participation of schools CEIP Pintor Pedro Flores, Our Lady of Bethlehem, San Lorenzo and CEIP CEPI Infanta Cristina, in the garden of La Seda, with the assistance of Federico Arce CP centers , Santa Joaquina de Vedruna, CP Nebrija and Joseph Brown, on the occasion of World Water Day.

The goal is to educate children and youth of the importance of water and its relationship to child survival and achieve financial resources for UNICEF program for children in Niger and get children in the African country have access to health, water, hygiene and proper nutrition.

The races will be between 500 and 1,500 meters, depending on the ages of participating children.

Each student enrolled will pay 1 euro per adult and 3 euros for Unicef ​​projects in Niger.

This African country is one of the poorest in the world, in which only 46% of the population has access to clean water.

The winners of each category will receive a medal and diploma at a ceremony to be held on April 17 in the city of Murcia.
