Guardiola Jose Angel Ruiz Martínez Olmos and Moses, students from IES San Juan de la Cruz (Caravaca), took first and second prize respectively in the III Olympiad Geology of the Region of Murcia, whose closing ceremony was held at the Archaeological Museum in Murcia city.
The third award was for the student Illueca Eduardo Fernandez, the IES Diego Tortosa Cieza, while the fourth was what Alberto Prieto Gómez, a student at Marist College "La Merced Fuensanta" of Murcia.
The top eight finishers will have the opportunity to participate in the national phase of the Olympiad, which will be held on Saturday, March 24 in Santander.
During the ceremony was held the conference "Fault, earthquakes and earthquake risk: an earthquake in Lorca" by Jose Martinez Diaz, professor of Geodynamics of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
The Olympiad is organized by public universities in the region, the Geological Society of Spain, the Spanish Association for the Teaching of Earth Science and the Association of Geologists.
