In 2010, 174,046 people attended the conferences, events and meetings in the city and generated an economic impact of 36.2 million euros

The Department of Tourism, headed by Miguel Cascales, remains committed to Murcia as a congress city.

The Governing Board approved the renewal of the collaboration with the Association of Collaborating Members of Congress Office of the City of Murcia.

The City Council in 2012 made a strong bid for congress tourism, giving the Convention Bureau at 50% over budget.

During 2010, 1,128 meetings were held in the municipality, with a total of 174,046 attendees.

The economic impact recorded was 36.2 million euros.

This year is scheduled to be held in Murcia big events like the Congress of the Spanish Society of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Pediatric Nutrition, Poultry Professional Conference, National Congress and I Mediterranean Forum of Sport Psychology, and XXIX National Meeting Urologic Oncology Group of the Spanish Association of Urology.

The Convention Bureau of the City of Murcia was founded in 1998 with the participation of public and private companies to promote Murcia to host conferences.

The partners of the Office include hotels, restaurants, bars, travel agencies, advertising agencies and event management, taxis, rental cars, etc..

The Office, which is based in the Annex to Victor Villegas Auditorium, is responsible for coordinating supply and demand for city services, development of specific technical dossiers, organization of reconnaissance visits to Murcia, transport discounts for Congress, institutional and technical support to organizers of events, delivery of promotional material and general information on Murcia, broadcast in the media and nominations for national conferences held in Murcia.
