The University of Murcia is promoting a campaign to collect food (01/03/2012)

The University of Murcia has started until March 24 and an awareness campaign to collect food for the humanitarian organization Caritas, which will have collection points in all of its campuses, including Lorca and San Javier.

The rector of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, has reported that food may be delivered mainly core and non-perishable, in the Lecture de la Merced, Convalescence, Rector Building Sabater, Soler Rector Building, General Lecture Espinardo Campus, North Classroom Building , Lecture Giner and University Social Centre.

There will also be collection points in the faculties of Labour Studies, Veterinary Science, Economics and Business, Medicine, Fine Arts, Sciences Sociosanitary of Lorca and Sport Science of San Javier.

Antonio Sanchez, secretary general of Caritas Murcia Region, thanked the president's initiative and commitment of the institution he presides in the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

Cobacho Rector, meanwhile, said the University can not be insensitive to the plight facing the country and the Region of Murcia, which requires to undertake such actions, he said.

The initiative has been driven by the Vice President for Student and Employment, whose responsible, Maribel Sanchez-Mora, said the goal is to use the human potential and university infrastructure, but said that the campaign is open to all citizens who want to help .

At the presentation ceremony held today at the headquarters of the Senate, the students were represented by President of the Student Council of the University (CEUM), Ignacio Garcia, adding that the campaign is a great opportunity for them to show their commitment social.
