The works of the Coastal North and South will create about a thousand jobs (21/02/2012)

The Board of Directors today approved Urbamusa bidding for projects whose investment amounts to EUR 25.6 million.

The Mayor noted that the construction of both roads will hire companies in Murcia and boost employment.

The new road will improve mobility and directly benefit over 90,000 people in 14 districts.

Almost 25.6 million is the budget to invest in order to practically complete the construction of the North Coast and move permanently South Coast, two high-capacity road that will definitely get traffic from urban areas of the districts, thus improving the quality of life for its inhabitants.

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, summarized in three aspects the main consequences of the construction of these infrastructures: "It will improve mobility considerably, decongest traffic existing roads and facilitate communications between the districts."

The bodies of Urbamusa, whose board of directors chaired by the Mayor, today approved the specifications for the procurement of these works to go to bid in 10 sections totaling 8,118 meters in length and whose scheduled execution time achieved in most cases 14 months, while the submission of tenders will be completed by the end of April.

The performance of both roads are part of the financing agreement with the Autonomous Community.

Specifically, the North Coast will remain in this tender 7 sections totaling 6,019 meters in length and a budget of 18 million euros, while there are 3 missing sections in the South Coast, at a cost of 7.6 million euros and a length of 2,099 meters.

The structural axis of the South Coast as a whole will have a length of 11.3 kilometers, linking from El Palmar to Beniaján.

Since January 2010 is the stretch between the Auditorium of La Alberca Road and Santa Catalina and in January opened to traffic on roads between here and Algezares, so that all that remains is the road from the hamlet to Beniaján.

The North Coast will have a total length of 12.06 kilometers and will link with Torres Cabezo Javalí Viejo, on the border with Sewer.

Since 2009 is open to traffic the first section, which links across the Avenida Juan de Borbon with Juan Carlos I (up to Espinardo substation) over a length of 1.55 kilometers.

When you hire the seven sections of the North Coast now will only go out to tender pending the vial will run from the connection to the existing North Coast in Guadeloupe to the south access to the University.

More and better roads

Nearly 25.6 million euros that have been budgeted completion of North and South Coast are added to the 39.6 million already invested in the first phase of both vials and Alternative Sangonera La Verde, built and open to traffic in the previous legislature, funded under the agreement with the Autonomous Community.

Other roads which entered service between 2007 and 2011-apart from these three vials, have been Beniaján Avenues, Kingdom of Murcia, Prince of Asturias and Aranjuez.

The implementation of this ambitious plan to improve road infrastructure has had two immediate consequences: firstly, the construction of the bypass This has made may not be necessary, as was the case until then through the town of Murcia for the transport of north to south or from east to west or vice versa, and secondly, the opening of the first sections of the Coastal North and South, Alternative Sangonera La Verde and Beniaján Avenue has resulted in a substantial improvement of communications between districts .
