Mayor Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, was today elected member of the Executive Committee of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and chairman of its Finance Committee.
House, which considers the financing of local authorities as "the great unfinished business" related to the municipalities, there has been "aware" that the area of finance will be one of the most important issues that will have to deal with councils in the coming years.
This is because after more than 30 years of enforcement of the Constitution and held us in the state of autonomy, "the councils remain anchored in the past from the financial standpoint."
For this reason, in his opinion "urge a deal finalized financing reform and create a stable funding of public administration as a whole, both state and regional and local" will imply a fundamental reform of the administrations, the competence of each, and, above all, "without considering the poor municipalities like brothers."
Among the objectives posed in front of the Finance Committee, the Chamber considers it urgent to address a negotiation regarding the return of income made by the Ministry of Finance in 2008 and 2009 as an advance on account of the settlement.
"That was brought about because for too long denied the crisis, and now let's pose a moratorium period of 10 or 15 years."
Recognition of the city of Murcia
House, which has received the nomination with "great illusion", has described the election as "a recognition not so much to me and to the city of Murcia and the City for the work done in these years by the municipality".
Besides his work as a member of the Executive Committee, Chamber has been responsible for different areas of the FEMP in recent years, in particular, has chaired the committees on Environment and Ecology (1999-2003), Education (2003-2007 ) and Sports and Leisure (2007-2011).
