Two arrested for theft of the sculptures in the Sculpture Park Antonio Campillo de Murcia (30/08/2011)

Agents of the Police Headquarters of Murcia, belonging to the Commissariat of St. Andrew District have arrested two men, one aged 20, of Spanish nationality and resident of Tortosa (Tarragona), as the author of theft carried out in Antonio Campillo Sculpture Park, two sculptures donated by the author, now deceased, the city of Murcia.

The other detainee is of Bolivian nationality 45 years old, a resident of Murcia and in charge of the junkyard.

The incident occurred last August 24, when a citizen alerted the lack of sculpture in that park.

After the knowledge of the facts the agents of the Commissariat of St. Andrew began the investigation from the scene where they found that had been torn from their pedestals, following any lead that takes them to recover.

The tracks left by the author led them to a junkyard in the city where the statues found in pieces along with more scrap metal as a result of this discovery and subsequent efforts levadas out, the agents are able to identify the perpetrator, giving his whereabouts in the city of Tortosa (Tarragona).

In collaboration with the Catalan police Tarragona proceeds to his arrest in the city of Tortosa.

When arrested in Tortosa is charged with an offense of theft and the manager of the junkyard is charged with an offense of receiving, the latter after giving statement is released, remained in force for the crime to charge them mentioned.

There are means of the amount realized by the sale of the statues has been one hundred seventy-one euros, being priced at more than sixty thousand euros each.
