53,000 school children participated last term in activities offered by the Department of Education (21/08/2011)

The program "Know Your City" and "Education in values" show that the city can be a teaching resource alternative to classroom learning.

With these 66 activities, children have the opportunity to know their local environment and natural wealth that the city offers.

In addition to students, have also been involved almost 2,500 teachers from 182 schools.

52,994 students in kindergarten, primary and secondary school teachers from 182 schools participated last year in the program activities "Know Your City" and "Education in values," taught by the Department of Education directs Maria Dolores Sanchez.

Two plans of the municipal educational offerings that demonstrate each year that the city and the districts can also be a valid educational resource that supplements the training activity that students receive in classrooms.

In particular, during 2010-11 were designed 66 different activities aimed at schoolchildren.

"Know your city" saw a participation of 46,555 children, while 6450 took part in "Education in values."

This involves the collaboration of 2,450 teachers and 182 schools, nearly 97% of existing ones.

In both initiatives the school have the opportunity to attend activities that complement their training in classrooms, using the city as a teaching resource.

Thus, the school is close to reality and allows children to know their environment and natural heritage that the city offers.

In "Education in values" addresses the entire school community-students, teachers and parents, and last year featured three activities: Learn Having Fun (film screenings and performances in theaters), Educating for coexistence (workshops centers) and Rights of the Child (full child).

Kindergarten students visited the aquarium, the Valley Regional Park, the gardens of Salitre and the Malecon and the municipal nursery, while the school moved to the Rambla de El Valle, the Water House and the Malecon.

The area of ​​"Expression and Communication" is the largest turnout, with nearly 15,000 students who participated in six activities: Amadeo and musical dreams, Where is Peter Pan, Goldfish, Penguin, and The Music Box Atlas.

Arouse curiosity and interest in science through simple experiments is the goal of the six activities organized under "Science in Murcia" and the participation of 500 students: The Museum of Science and Water, The Planetarium and the Hall of Water, the workshop "Playing with polymers," the workshop "Cell City" living museum of science and UMU and the Meteorological Center of Murcia.

The section "History and Art" 7481 saw the attendance of children, which aroused the interest to the contemplation of works of art and unique buildings, using as a resource to museums.

It was the area where most activities have taken place, namely, 18: City Hall, Murcia in Time, Archaeological Museum, Ethnological Museum of the Huerta de Murcia, Salzillo Museum, Museo Ramón Gaya Museum of Fine Arts, Museum City, Casino, Visitor Center San Antonio Light and the Poor, workshop "Europe at school", Museum of Blood, Paleontological Museum, Salzillo and Baroque cathedral and Museo Santa Clara.

The activity on "Consumption" attracted 780 students, with activities "La Casa del Pan", and Mercamurcia Veronicas Market, where they learned to appreciate the importance of a healthy and balanced diet.

"Driver Education and Safety" and "Professional Education and Professional" complete the 7 thematic areas where the program is divided Know Your City.

In the first of which over 13,600 were 7 school activities that were given to see how close some security services to citizens: Your friends firefighters, local police, learn signs reading "Ogromóvil educating the" Park Children's Traffic Park, Fire Infante, Competition Driver Education and Traffic Safety T Shape and Sustainability.

Finally, the Department of Education organized the past four activities for course information and guidance about resources, programs and initiatives in education and training in the field of formal and non formal education offered by the city youth.

They obtained a school of 794 in school counseling workshops and decision making, and visits to the Center of Training and Employment Initiatives, National Technology Center and Canning Food and Veterinary Hospital.
