The Socialist Party denounced the risk of collapse of the Mill Alfatego (17/08/2011)

The Municipal Socialist Group spokesperson, Pedro López, warns that Alfatego Mill, located in the hamlet of El Puntal near the Avenida Juan Carlos I, is in a state of total abandonment, with numerous cracks, and are at risk of collapse in the coming months if nothing is done to prevent it.

The mayor said that this building is one of the most representative symbols of the Huerta de Murcia and requires the City Council to act to prevent its disappearance as it did previously Mill Oliver.

Lopez visited the Mill Alfatego with Councilwoman Susan Hernandez, alerted by the locals who also fear that the building could cause an accident if landslides occur on the nearby road.

"It's a shame that the City allow this building to die when it could be recovered as a rural inn or tourist infrastructure as it is a small oasis surrounded by lemon and Huerta if you put in safe bet that attract dozens of tourists for its proximity to the downtown, "said the spokesman.

The socialist council says that "if the City has in mind to enhance the Garden as a tourist attraction must urgently implement a plan to recover the property and water infrastructure because in most cases are on the brink of ruin," as the Socialist Group reported last week on a previous visit to the Molino del Amor en La Albatalía.

Missed opportunity to recover the assets of the Orchard

Pedro Lopez recalls that the government team in 2009 lost a golden opportunity to have made a rehabilitation and enhancement of the network of canals, windmills and Azarbe de la Huerta when he refused to include in the works financed by funds Plan E is a project presented by various associations including the restoration of 35 miles of channels and banks of ditches, reconstruction and rehabilitation of five mills, bridges, aqueducts, Azarbe and other buildings and infrastructure of irrigation traditional Murcia.

"Now in times of crisis, be more difficult to deal with this plan that is so necessary to ensure a sustainable future for the Huerta, which must be understood as a major source of employment for our municipality," says the Socialist spokesman.
