Health workshops for young people achieve Murcia become more aware of the risks of alcohol consumption (13/08/2011)

The Municipal Drug Addiction Plan, adopted in 1996 aims to reduce the prevalence of consumption and its consequences and to promote skills and leisure alternatives.

Related exclusively to alcohol in 2010 were carried out various programs and activities involving young people in 3348 nearly 15,000 sessions:

- Prevention workshops CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: aimed at students of secondary school (12 to 16 years), work content on impacts, consequences of their use / abuse, risk perception, peer pressure, leisure, etc. .

2,200 students participated, representing 8800 sessions.

- PATIO TELE-school program: for students of 1st cycle of secondary school (12 to 14 years).

Designed by the Association for Family, is making short video of 15 minutes duration, for what was previously preventive work on alcohol content.

Further elaborated the script and the video conference.

45 students participated, 540 9 sessions and produced videos.

- PROGRAM "THE OTHER LOOK OF YOUTH": Aimed at students in secondary education, has an exhibition of 22 posters on different aspects related to the consumption of alcohol (effects, risks, leisure, bottle, etc.), developed by pupils School of Art, Murcia, and 5 teaching units.

1,100 students participated in 5,500 sessions.

- CAMPAIGN "NO SEAS BORREGO" street furniture installed during the month of May 2011 aimed at teenagers and young people with messages about the risks associated with consumption (traffic accidents, unprotected sex), physical, high-risk drinking, etc..

- CAMPAIGN "YES BABY, BABY-quences," in the Spring Festival of 2011, was distributed in all bars and huts installed on the occasion of the celebrations, recalling the prohibition of the sale to minors of 18 years and posters with messages on the physical, unwanted pregnancies and traffic accidents.

Also distributed in secondary schools and community centers.

The Department of Health and Social Welfare is planning to conduct further information campaigns to coincide with the Feria de Murcia, while in the next academic year 2011/2012 will be presented a web page on alcohol "YES BABY, BABY CON-SEQUENCES" to work the educational environment, both the students and with teachers and parents.
