HUERMUR is consolidated as a national benchmark in the protection of the heritage garden and defense (06/04/2011)

Representatives of the organization participated in two meetings on traditional orchards and mills in Spain, Segovia Baeza, respectively

The work carried out by the entity in recent years has been outstanding in both games and set an example as the way forward elsewhere

On the other hand, has sent HUERMUR political parties its proposals for Huerta de Murcia for analysis in the face of the wording in their electoral programs

HUERMUR, Association for the Conservation of Huerta de Murcia, has established itself as a national benchmark in the fight for traditional suburban garden and in the defense of water heritage, whose greatest exponent are the mills.

In recent days, representatives of the association have participated in two events of great importance in these areas, which HUERMUR has worked extensively in recent years.

In the city of Segovia (Castilla y León) has held the annual meeting of the ACEM (Association for the Conservation and Study of the Mills of Spain), with which HUERMUR maintains a line of communication and collaboration since 2008.

At this meeting, Pedro Fernández, a spokesman for HUERMUR, has exhibited the work of pro-equity entity in the defense of traditional water mills, which was the central theme of the meeting.

Fernandez highlighted the successes in crippling destruction of mills and other mills, as well as advances in cultural protection as BIC (Cultural Property) of these mills and the water network, as well as relations with the different administrations , and various court cases around the water network in the Huerta de Murcia and the work of the outgoing Board of Directors Planters la Huerta de Murcia.

Pedro Fernandez, candidate of the Board HUERMUR Landowners, also met the origins and functioning of other historical and traditional canal still in use, the "Real Cacera of San Lorenzo, the oldest civic organization in the Segovia area (XV century instituted by Henry IV), and that keeps many parallels with the Good Men Murcia, as it also has become Irrigation Community to continue its operation.

In the Segovia aqueduct, which runs in part by urban area, has carried out an extensive project of restoration and recovery, with the creation of a path and the restoration of the mills located between travel and the Eresma River.

In addition, Fernandez has strengthened partnerships with other organizations and groups in defense of the whole of Spain, who also work to avoid losing the traditional water mills, and to coordinate joint actions.

Highlights the collective Valencia, Zaragoza, and the Association of Friends of the Mint of Segovia, who managed the restoration of a historic building is going back to mint money through water wheels driven by river.

In the other match, a course at the Universidad Internacional de Andalucía which was held in Baeza (Jaén) who has analyzed the situation of traditional suburban gardens and its threats and opportunities.

In this course, has brought together representatives of groups working for conservation and recovery of these gardens in different parts of Spain, Granada, Valencia, Alicante, and several locations in Catalonia, Murcia as well as delegation, led by the consultant of HUERMUR on planning, Angeles Moreno.

Moreno presented a paper on the Huerta de Murcia, urban planning, threats and attacks suffered by the Huerta de Murcia, and their potential cultural, tourist, scenic and economic revitalization of Murcia.

Similarly, representatives of various groups participants established new channels of cooperation, in order to establish a joint defense strategy of traditional gardens, very little fertile soil and in serious danger of disappearing in our continent.

In this sense, the associations to defend the garden from different parts of Spain, are willing to get to where needed, including the highest levels of the European Union, so as not to further destruction of this unique landscape, which with current crisis has shown his absolute need for conservation and recovery.

Pedro Fernandez HUERMUR spokesman, said that "these meetings are the support that is sometimes missing in our government, and demonstrates the importance of our heritage and our garden, which are at the forefront nationally."

It has also indicated that "in Murcia we have courage and conscience in the sense that we have a unique resource with great potential, knowing that conserve, restore and operate, we would be one step ahead of other places, and be able to thus sustainable use of our landscape and our heritage, and gain economic and tourist resort, which is sorely lacking right now. "

On the other hand, and summoned the municipal elections on 22 May, HUERMUR has provided the political organizations that are presented by the municipality of Murcia a document with proposals concerning various issues related to the Huerta.

This document sets out several initiatives on Huerta, the hydraulic system, agricultural production in the area and measures for promotion, heritage conservation, landscape protection, mobility, ...

These proposals were also presented at meetings for those candidates who have wanted to meet with the leadership of the association to analyze and discuss the proposals.

They are also accessible to all interested in the web of the association, www.huermur.es

The document has two key proposals, such as the declaration of the Garden as Cultural Landscape and the drafting of a Special Protection Plan, accompanied by a revision of the General Plan to recover Huerta protection by 2006 and limit their use.

The other measures that go beyond their twenties, are grouped into the themes of "Agriculture" and "Culture, landscape and environment" and "Mobility."

Deserve mention support for the creation of a distribution network Huerta products at a fair price for the farmer as well as exemption from payment of IBI (property tax) for the soil to keep the farm.

In this regard, Pedro Fernández has submitted that "it is good news in this election there is talk of the Garden and its possibilities, and not a forgotten issue in any election of the training program with aspirations to sit on full municipal ".

Also reports that "people want to hear politicians Murcia which are proposed to conserve and protect the Garden, and be attentive to what they offer, as well as the enforcement of electoral programs."
