Puertas de Castilla hosts the exhibition Catró Atrófica (28/02/2018)

Tomorrow, Thursday, March 1, at 8:30 p.m., will be the inauguration of 'Cadena atrófica', the first exhibition of three that will be carried out by the curators Pablo Sandoval and Daniel Soriano in the Black and Nana rooms of the Puertas Center of Castilla.

This first exhibition shows the work of the artist Saelia Aparicio and the designer Attua Aparicio, a work that has concluded in the development of an ecosystem that evolves due to the presence of plastic on the ocean floor.

'Atrophic chain' is an abyssal landscape where alternative life forms have been constructed, born of materials known as harmful: plastic, uranium crystal or other artificial materials.

This imaginary, elaborated from an absurd alternative, allows to question the discourse that is given to the materials revealing that their innocuous or noxious properties are external readings derived from experience.

The exhibition will be complemented with a series of parallel activities: an Open Studio on February 27 where the assembly of the exhibition will open its doors to the general public after 6 pm and a Critical Session on March 2 at 6 pm in the Puertas de Castillas Center.

This format creates a framework for the exchange of impressions between novice and professional artists, as well as two guided visits with the curators of the exhibition on Thursday, March 22 and April 19.

The project 'New curators' aims to introduce young curators into the professional circuit of curatorial projects.

Thus, this year the curators Pablo Sandoval and Daniel Soriano are going to hold three exhibitions in an institutional art center, starting with 'Atrophic Chain' with Saelia and Attua Aparicio (March 1 to April 26), Natural History Museum exposing the work of the Valencian collective ORGIA (May 11 until September 30) and closing the cycle with a third exhibition in October that will remain open until the end of the year.
