Murcia continues to rank first and foremost as an example of good international practice.

The Councilor for Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, together with the director of international projects of the University of Murcia, Antonio Skarmeta, presented in Bordeaux the content structure of the first Guide to Intelligent Management of Public Space In the framework of the third edition of URBELAC, the Network of European, Latin American and Caribbean Cities for Integrated and Sustainable Urban Development.

This document is being developed in collaboration with Buenos Aires, Campo Grande, Guadalajara, Montevideo, West Athens, Bordeaux, Milan and Viseu and has the support of the European Union and the Inter-American Development Bank.

In this way the different cities elaborate a series of projects and initiatives to face challenges in the urban context and in the sustainable development of the cities.

The representatives of the different municipalities that are present in this transnational meeting, which is celebrated this week between Bordeaux and Murcia under the name "Innovations in Subnational Management" (Innovation in Subnational Management), will visit later Murcia to witness firsthand the interventions That the City Council promotes in the neighborhood of Santa Eulalia, framed within the Urban DNA project.

Besides the exchange of good practices and the sharing of information and know-how, the network promotes its own projects for the benefit of the cities of the world.

Thus, Murcia leads the drafting of a type guide, through a process that structures the urban environment management by collecting good practices, distribution, legislation and working philosophies of all these cities, to create the first practical manual of organization of the public space called Guide Of Intelligent Planning of Public Space, a project sponsored by the City of Murcia.

"Cities have to be spaces designed for people, comfortable, practical, efficient and aesthetic. Big cities have to become laboratories for innovation in the management of public services, promoting quality in municipal management adapting to new challenges Of the current situation and the demands of the citizens, based on the experience and the use of new technologies, "explained Guillén.

The council has concluded by saying that "local governments must contribute through transnational cooperation to coordinate the challenge of good planning of our cities."
