Alem organizes a workshop to help companies in Murcia calculate their carbon footprint (29/03/2017)

The registration deadline for participation in the sessions, which will be held on 27 April and 4 May, is now open.

The Local Energy and Climate Change Agency of Murcia (ALEM) will give on April 27 and May 4 a workshop for small and medium-sized companies in the municipality to calculate their Carbon Footprint, which indicates the mark that is left on the environment Each activity that emits greenhouse gases.

The City Council, which has completed the registration process in the National Registry of Carbon Footprint managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, collaborates with SMEs to carry out this calculation, in order to reduce it And contribute to combating the effects of climate change.

This is the second edition that calls for this innovative initiative, within the framework of the fight against climate change, promoted by the Department of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, directed by Antonio Navarro Corchón.

These workshops are part of the training and awareness campaign developed by the ALEM Service under the motto: 'Act on Climate Change'.

This year's edition is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises in Murcia, especially in the industrial sector.

The objective is to provide training and advice so that they can determine for themselves their Carbon Footprint, and register it in the National Registry.

The idea, said Navarro Corchón, is that "all companies participating in the workshop come with their carbon footprint calculated."

This initiative will take place in the Hall of Acts of the Municipal Building of the Local Development Agency, headquarters of ALEM, on 27 April and 4 May, and will be organized in two days of tomorrow.

Theory and practice

In the first one, more theoretical concepts will be discussed and several dynamics will be presented to help define the scope and the approach of the carbon footprint of each of the participating organizations.

The second day will consist of a practical part in which will explain the operation of the carbon footprint calculation tool, with the intention that each assistant calculates the carbon footprint of your organization there.

Antonio Navarro Corchón recalled that "it is important that Murcia companies, especially those in the most energy-intensive industrial sector, know the advantages of calculating the brand they perform in the environment, which allows not only to define the energy consumption and emissions generated within Of the organization itself, but to propose a reduction plan and identify potential savings.

At the same time it will allow them to improve their brand image and reputation against the competition.

To participate in this initiative, free of charge and for the dissemination of which is supported by Croem, the registration must be formalized by email cambioclimatico@ayto-murcia.es.

The number of companies attending is limited, although depending on the demand could be raised new editions.
