Now Murcia proposes the creation of an advisory council of social and solidarity economy (27/09/2016)

MURCIA NOW proposes the creation of a Consultative Council of the Social and Solidarity Economy to monitor and advice on building and promotion of development policies and promoting social and solidarity economy in the municipality.

They participate in this Council, together with representatives of the government team and technical municipal politicians and members of representative organizations of the social economy groups.

The municipal formation take a motion to the next plenary posed by the constitution of the Board.

Councilman Luis Bermejo explains that "as prior to its creation step, a participatory process would be open to social partners and formations of the City Council can contribute their proposals on the composition and rules of procedure of the Council. The intention is that the Council is created before the end of the year and his first call is before February next year. "

The mayor says that "the social economy is characterized not only by its ability to be sustainable economically, but also for being a couple social cohesion essential vector for a deal more just and supportive of wealth, and for the defense of the values ​​of sustainability, equality, equity and participation ".

In this sense, in the region of the cooperative sector it has reached an employment growth of 9%, generating 19,168 direct jobs.

In addition, in recent years in the municipality they have generated many community initiatives such as time banks, exchange of goods and services, etc., becoming an innovative alternative.

The councilor explained that "within the social economy cooperatives, labor companies and other enterprises owned by the workers are included, social action organizations, insertion companies; sharing networks or knowledge products; rural community economies, etc. ".

The mayor concludes that "the city of Murcia, as the main institution locally should launch and implement measures to promote the social and solidarity economy as a fundamental to develop quality employment areas and to promote social cohesion and economic democracy. and a good tool to achieve this momentum is the creation of the Consultative Council of the Social and Solidarity Economy that we propose. "
