The Community gives the City of Murcia 9 kilometers of urban road sections (19/09/2016)

The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, through the Directorate General of Highways, has given the City of Murcia 8.8 kilometers of roads of the regional network of the Community that run through the municipality of Murcia, in the agreement between the administrations for the construction of coastal North and South, where the regional government invested 66.5 million euros.

They are treated urban sections of the RM-F1, beginning in the Garden of Floridablanca and end in Algezares;

RM-F5, which connects the Azacaya and San Jose de la Vega;

RM-F7, between Cuatro Caminos and La Barca de Salazar, and the RM-F9, linking Bacons Bridge and La Barca de Salazar.

The Director of Roads, Jose Antonio Fernandez Lladó, accompanied by the Councillor for Promotion of the City of Murcia, Roque Ortiz, presided over today's meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the implementation agreement protocol improvement of road communications of Murcia, in the axes coastal North and South.

The CEO said that "after the execution of Coastal, traffic traversing these roads is urban and pathways that are assigned, about nine kilometers are municipal nature, so it is recommended to transfer to City."

Fernández Lladó explained that the transfer of the roads is produced according to the commitments between administrations for the construction of Coastal, which sets that "for every million euros invested by the regional government in this work one kilometer of road is transferred urban local entity. "

Thus, this year the regional government invested, according to the annual plan agreed in the agreement, 9.9 million euros.

So far, the transfer has materialized 37.7 kilometers of 11 roads of the regional network to City Hall.

This will result in savings to the Community of 100,000 euros in conservation of regional roads.

Llado Fernandez recalled that "the commissioning of the North and South coast, with a distance of 37.6 kilometers, offers an alternative route of the roads connecting the center of Murcia with its districts and communications backbone of the city with its major population centers, further improving accessibility with the Murcia coast, the interior of the region and neighboring regions. "

The CEO indicated that the change of ownership is done with the infrastructures that have a perfect condition and affects roads, for their functionality, have been assumed by the opening to traffic of the new Coastal North and South.

The agreement Monitoring Committee determines and plans the assignments of the new road sections, in proportion to the economic value that is transferred from the Community to the City Council.

The construction of the North coast and South has been carried out thanks to an agreement between the regional and local administrations, by which the Autonomous Community funded from different budget annuities works of coastal and rushing the City, according to the project and Urbamusa address.
