Murcia, the first council of the region to join the Manifesto for Equality in the workplace OMEP (08/08/2016)

The mayor and the president of the Murcia Organization of Business and Professional Women signed Decalogue of good practices for the visibility of women.

The commitment represented today is the fulfillment of a motion defended the councilman of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz in Parliament last July.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the president of the Murcia Organization of Business and Professional Women (OMEP), Manoli Marin, today signed the Manifesto for gender equality between women and men in the workplace, whereby Murcia becomes the first council of the region to adhere to this set of good practices for equity in the labor market and the elimination of gender barriers.

José Ballesta said that "freedom and equality are values ​​that must move in sync, because it can not exist without each other.

Democratic societies seem to have made more progress in freedoms on the principle of equal opportunities and signing this Manifesto helps break that gap. "

The Manifesto was also signed by several members of the government team spokeswoman Now Murcia, Alicia Morales, representatives of the PSOE and citizens, as well as entrepreneurs attending the event, many of whom attended accompanied by their daughters to symbolize well the future of equality.

Conciliation, basic axis of HR policies

Fifty shares for equality

The City Council is developing a series of measures with more than 50 initiatives aimed at achieving equality in the workplace of Murcia women, with an investment of over 550,000 euros, reflecting the contributions made by the associations that are part of the Municipal Council equality.

Thus, workshops are held to facilitate integration in the labor market, specific training municipal technicians of the Equality Commission, funding to women's associations, etc.

Soon they will be held workshops on labor rights to raise awareness of the rights of conciliation of women in rural areas, within the framework of the conference to be held on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women, held on October 15 .

OMEP: more than 200 entrepreneurs and professionals murcianas

OMEP is an organization with more than 20 years old which brings together more than 200 women entrepreneurs and professionals in the Region of Murcia, and also entrepreneurs.

Its objectives include giving greater visibility to women in all areas and provide training and advice to its members, representing their interests before the institutions and public administrations.

The organization works with the city of Murcia in the development of various training activities that aim to promote female entrepreneurship and the consolidation of companies in the municipality.
