The assembly of the Conference of Deans of Science of Physical Activity and Sport (CAFD) held elections to elect a new board.
There were two nominations: José Manuel García (University of Castilla-La Mancha) and Arturo Diaz (University of Murcia).
The result was seventeen votes for José Manuel García, Arturo Diaz five for and five abstentions.
In the new board it is vocal, Antonio Sánchez Pato, dean of the Faculty of Sport of the UCAM.
The Catholic University of Murcia figure and the Conference of Deans of CAFD as the only private university in recognition of his great work in the world of sport.
Furthermore, it is the only university in this region in this organism.
The Faculty of Sport of the UCAM is among the five best in Spain (including public and private according to the ranking of the World 2015) and currently leads a project funded by the European Union to move its model of mentoring athletes to other European universities in the UK, Italy, Greece and Malta.
It has two other EU funded projects in which it participates as a member with institutions and universities in Germany, Greece, Latvia, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic and Bulgaria funded.
It has five competitive research groups and is funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness for the development of their projects.
It also maintains agreements with many European universities and a PhD in the Sports Science accredited by ANECA.
Faculty magazine is indexed in the 'Emerging Source Citation Index' of Thomson Reuters and published her researchers around the world.
There are multiple conventions UCAM has with the Spanish Olympic Committee, promoting the academic training of Olympic athletes, with the explicit recognition of the International Olympic Committee, and also offers training in collaboration with the Laliga football or ACB basketball among others .
recently renewed its accreditation two masters: Research in Physical Education and Health and Management and Sports Management.
Sport in the UCAM is high-level research, teaching transversal (CAFD, journalism, medicine, nutrition, law, etc.), sponsorship and management of clubs and athletes of all ages and very different disciplines and events organization;
all to the benefit of society.
Degree in Dance: pending verification by ANECA
Another project of the Faculty of Sport of the UCAM is the implementation of a Degree in Dance.
For three years we have been working to make this possible, thanks to intensive work by the teachers of the Catholic University of Murcia.
He is currently in the process of verification by ANECA.
